This year for Father’s Day my boyfriend and I convinced Dad to head up into Maine in search of fishable water. With no game plan, really, a very full cooler with all of Dad’s favorite foods, and just the cab of the truck for three adult-sized people, we headed off. Even after heavy rains and really high, fast water (less than ideal for fly fishing) it was a beautiful day. And, for the first time in my life I caught a fish on a fly! It was a bit of a fluke because I had too much line out and never got to intentionally “set the hook” but luckily the fish was even slower than I was and I (ahem, my boyfriend) landed the fish.
Maine is a pretty amazing place, with many miles of fishable water. It’s against the “rules” of fishing to tell you the names of the water we fished, but in all honesty I don’t even remember. I’m not sure I ever knew the name of our second spot, and that kind of makes it even more magical.
Have a great weekend! Blair
