Usually my ticket to the wide-open ocean is when I’m up to my elbows in bait juice in the stern of the Hayley G. I love it. In fact, tomorrow marks my first lobstering day of the year! But, this past weekend Hayley and I went for a quieter ride, sans diesel engine, aboard the stunning, floating historic landmark Wendameen. Built in 1912 in East Boothbay, Maine, the wooden two-masted gaff-rigged schooner is a well-known white vision in Casco Bay.
With my boyfriend captaining at the helm, Hayley and I had a fantastic two-hours sail around the Portland harbor. The islands and shoreline were vibrant with the new green growth of spring and the sky was bright blue and filled with cotton ball clouds. Here are some of our favorite sights of the day!
Have a very happy Memorial Day weekend! Blair
