Who is up for a quick round of Faux Family Feud? Awesome, you’re such a good sport! Okay, name a surefire way to make your lady- or anyone, for that matter- instantaneously happy and uplifted… (Did you just say “pizza?!” Ehhh… close, haha.) Try flowers… “Show us, flowers!” *Ding* Maybe if the board was bigger there’d be a spot for pizza, but flowers have undoubtedly been a tried and true mood booster through the ages. It is one of life’s sweetest and simplest pleasures to add a fresh floral bouquet to a space. We spend the winter and spring itching for the first pop of snowdrops and crocuses, pine for those early summer lilacs outside our windows, and savor the summer blooms that grace gardens and highways alike (specifically lupines here in Maine.)
Sometimes a single stem is all you need to set the mood, and other times it’s just necessary to go full on showstopper in your vase. This is where I always defer to the pros- arranging flowers isn’t a skill I have in my toolbox. One of the best, if not the best local talent, here in Portland is Megan of Field Floral Studio. She utilizes seasonal blooms and partners with local farms and has a miraculous knack for creating effortless and elegant arrangements that just take our collective breath away. She is also one of the most kindhearted, sincere, and collaborative people you’ll ever meet.
Megan generously welcomed us into her studio to witness her magic unfold. You guys, her studio is the stuff dreams are made of, wouldn’t you agree? Talk about grosgrain ribbon!!! Swing back around next week to read our interview with Megan, too!
