The sun now stays in the sky well after the 5 o’clock commute home. Thank goodness, too! It’s wonderful to feel energized after a full day of work and get to enjoy the dusk. In just 3 weeks I’ll be leaving the 9-5 behind for my boyfriend’s annual family vacation on Monhegan Island!
I have a long list of things I cannot wait to do when I arrive, but I am most excited for the evening walks through town up to the lighthouse. Our stroll is usually lit by the moon and the dancing lightening bugs while peepers toss in their two cents from the meadow. I find at this time of day the homes create striking cutout shapes set against the dimming sky and dark forest, and the warmly lit windows are straight out of a children’s fairytale book. I am simply in love with the time I have spent, and have yet to spend!, on this beautiful Maine island.
Here’s to the rejuvenating adventures of summer! Hayley
