Hey guys, exciting news! Dad caught a blue lobster! I would even venture to say our little fella is allllmost a cross between a blue lobster and a crystal lobster because his underside is so pale. The chance of catching a blue lobster is about one in two million, according to the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine, while crystal (or albino) lobsters are one in one hundred million. His little pincers, mouth, and tail are trimmed in blonde hairs while his scissor and crusher claws are tipped with a pale lavender. I’ve never seen a creature so stunning come up in a lobster trap. Though, it’s worth mentioning that this is Dad’s second career blue lobster! The man had good ocean karma.
Like many special and rare occurrences, this blue lobster provided us with a very timely moment of pause. As we really ramp up our production efforts it was so perfect to take a few minutes out of our day to venture down to the wharf and relish this remarkable creature. It was a welcome reminder of how stunning our world is, how important and special it is to share the excitement and joy of those you love, and how blue should be everybody’s favorite color. Okay, maybe not that last piece – to each her own. Anyway, we feel so lucky to live in such an inspiring part of the world and we wanted to share this delight with you all.
Take time to appreciate life’s special moments! Blair
