There’s something that is just so visually striking about an A-frame house. I don’t know about your neighborhood, but we didn’t have many (read: zero) neighbors who lived in an A-frame where I grew up. Whether it’s a classic dark brown gingerbread home or an ultra mod abode of metal and glass, the awe factor is the same. While traveling around Carrabassett Valley with my boyfriend we admired the A-frame structures, that peaked in popularity between the 1950’s to the 1970’s, and daydreamed about an A-frame of our own.
The geometric structure of an A-frame and the steep angle of the roofline are beautiful in their straight-lined simplicity. As an aficianado of clean and crisp scandanavian design I can easily spend hours absorbed in the A-frame inspired Pinterest boards- they have a certain subtly dramatic presence in any landscape. I’ve curated some of my favorite photos to share with you that showcase the beauty of the A-frame in every season and style.
Enjoy! Hayley
